2030 Plan

The City of Georgetown began the process of updating the City's Comprehensive Plan in Fall 2006. Targeted for the year 2030, the Comprehensive Plan is a long term outlook for the community consisting of the goals, values and overall vision of the citizens. It is a statement by today's Georgetown citizens to help plan for tomorrow's Georgetown citizens. The update completely modernizes the former comprehensive plan, called the Century Plan, which was adopted in 1988.

The new plan will help lead Georgetown into the next two decades with strong policy goals and implementation strategies to protect the city's quality of life and sense of tradition and history, while balancing economic opportunity and growth.

The City worked for over a year with the consulting firm of Wallace, Roberts and Todd, crafting broad policies that will guide planning and development as we move quickly toward 2030. This plan is a reflection of community leaders, public input and hours of debate to accurately reflect the ideals and future desires of Georgetown.

On February 26, the City Council approved the 2030 Plan, which is now in effect.  Visit the Planning office for more information.  At the bottom of this page you can read each chapter of the final draft from January and also review the new Future Land Use Map.  The completed 2030 Plan with final edits will be posted on the web in early April.

The document recommended by the Steering Committee in November and the Planning and Zoning Commission in January is listed below by Chapters, for easier downloading.  The final version of the plan will be posted online in April and bound copies will be available at the Planning Department.
