Bulky Waste Disposal
City of Georgetown residents cannot leave bulky waste materials (furniture, mattresses, toilets, refrigerators, washers, dryers, batteries, tires, etc.) at the curb without requesting a special bulky waste collection through TDS, (512) 930-1715.
In-City residents may dispose of bulky waste in two ways, either by scheduling a curbside bulky waste pick-up with TDS, or by bringing the waste to the Collection Station. Extra charges may apply to certain items (a refrigerator for example) due to special handling requirements.
Bulky Waste Disposal at the Collection Station
In-City residents with a current City of Georgetown utility bill and photo ID are allowed to bring 2 free cubic yards of garbage or bulky waste to the Collection Station per month. City customers and non-City customers are limited to 6 cubic yards per month. The first 2 cubic yards are free for in-City residents, the next 4 cubic yards are $8 per cubic yard. Charges may apply to certain items due to special handling requirements.
Non-City residents pay $14 per cubic yard, and out-of-City, ETJ, or commercial customers pay $18 per cubic yard.
Bulky Waste Disposal at Curbside
Effective September 10, 2007, new quarterly curbside bulky waste pick-up for in-City residents is available. Once every three months, residents may request this service by calling TDS at (512) 930-1715 to schedule. Total acceptable volume can be no more than 8 feet X 8 feet X 8 feet. This service is available at no extra charge for in-City residents only. If additional pick-ups are needed, residents may call TDS to schedule. The charge for additional pick-up service is $25 per cubic yard and can be billed to the utility account.
Unacceptable items include but are not limited to tires, vehicle batteries, hazardous materials and construction waste such as bathtubs, cabinetry or sheet rock. Construction materials that are in good condition may be donated to the Habitat Re-store. Call the Re-store for information at (512) 869-2070.
Items such as clothing, housewares, and furniture can be reused by charitable organizations such as the Caring Place at (512) 869-4735 or Goodwill Industries at (512) 868-9547. Computer components can be taken to Goodwill in Georgetown where they are resold or recycled.
