Tips to secure yourself and your property:
1.Does your door have a 180 degree peep hole?
2.Are door deadbolt locks at least 40 inches from any glass?
3.Are exterior doors (including the garage to house door) solid core or metal sheathed?
4.Do those doors have one throw deadbolt locks?
5.Are the strike plate and hinge screws 2" in length?
6.Do metal windows have auxiliary locks located 4" up to allow for ventilation?
7.Double hung or wooden windows should be pinned.
8.Garage door (s) should be able to be locked electronically and/or mechanically.
9.Are shrubs cut below window level?
10.Are tree limbs cut above window glass?
11.Are the house numbers visible from the street?
12.Does the mailbox have the house number on it?
13.Do the front and back door have adequate lighting? Illuminated all night?
14.Are bikes, mowers and ladders kept inside or secured in some other manner?
15.Have you engraved your property with your Texas Drivers License number?
16.Make a list, with serial numbers, of your property. Include photos.
