How do I apply for a job?
A fully completed City of Georgetown application form must be submitted prior to the specified deadline. Fill out all sections of the application, front and back completely ("See resume" is not acceptable). Incomplete applications will not be considered. Resumes are a welcome supplement to the completed application form. Applications are available online or can be picked up in the Human Resources office located at 113 E. 8th St.

What is the timeframe of the hiring process?
After the job position's posted deadline, the application is forwarded to the hiring supervisor. This generally takes 1-2 days. If selected for an interview, the applicant will be contacted by phone within approximately 2-3 weeks after the application deadline. If not selected for an interview, the applicant will be notified by mail concerning the status of their application.

Does the City have a retirement plan?
The City of Georgetown offers a retirement plan through the Texas Municipal Retirement System. The City of Georgetown's TMRS plan requires a contribution (made by means of bi-weekly payroll deductions) equal to seven percent (7%) of the salary of each regular full-time City employee. The City matches employee contributions on a 2 to 1 basis after the employee is vested at the time of retirement. Vesting occurs after 5 years of employment. The City has also adopted 20-year any age retirement.
