Solid Waste

The City of Georgetown provides garbage collection services through a contract with Texas Disposal Systems (TDS). City residents have once weekly curbside pick-up with a 35-, 65-, or 96-gallon container provided by TDS. All City utility customers who live inside the city limits are required to have garbage through TDS. City utility customers who live outside the city limits have the option of having once weekly pick-up through the City's contractor or choosing another service provider. Businesses within the City are to arrange for commercial services from TDS that fit their needs. Your utility bill will show the amount paid for garbage pick-up for each month.

Residential Solid Waste Collection

  • The container and other waste must be placed at curbside for collection by 7:00 a.m. on your collection day
  • Residents are allowed to dispose of five (5) bags or bundles of acceptable waste at each weekly collection in addition to the container. Acceptable waste includes garbage and brush. No hazardous materials will be collected
  • Residents may place bundled tree limbs with their garbage. The bundles must be no longer than 4' and weigh no more than 35 lbs. bundled up (tie the limbs together with string or wire). The bundles will count as part of the allowed five (5) bags or bundles of waste
  • Residents inside the city limits may bring brush to the Collection Station for disposal at no charge. You must show your current City of Georgetown utility bill and a photo ID.

    Residential Solid Waste Rates (effective September 10, 2007)

    • Inside city limits (8.25% tax) $14.05 with recycling
    • Outside city limits (6.25% tax) $16.55 with recycling
    • Extra-territorial Jurisdiction (6.25%) $17.50 without recycling


    Commercial Solid Waste Collection

    All commercial customers within the City limits are required to use Texas Disposal Systems for solid waste services. Commercial customers should contact TDS directly at (512) 930-1715 or email aucustomercare@texasdisposal.com to set up new service or to request a change in service.
